I’m trying to get an idea of what a new roof will cost? I figured as many answers as possible would help put it in perspective. What is a good average to go by in pricing roofs?
Assuming that the roof is fairly standard with no intense angles. Also, I am in Fort Worth if that is of any help with regard to pricing variances?
Answer From My Roofer:
We measure roofs in the number of squares. A square is simply 100 square feet.
In the Fort Worth area, an average roof will cost you between $3,500 to $7500 on a 1,200 square foot house. I am assuming you are talking about composite roofing shingles. You are looking at about $100 for materials for each square.
The labor will be about $150 – $200 per square in Fort Worth.
If you want a different type of roofs like metal, clay, or aluminum, or if your roof is complex it could cost you more. There a bunch of variables to consider.
One last point, your labor should include the cost to tear off the old roof and to haul away the materials. There could be added cost during the project if your roofer has to replace any wood sheathing.
